Ingredients:

  • FONDUE:
  • 1/2 pound semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup espresso coffee
  • OPTIONAL:
  • 1/4 cup Grand Marnier
  • FOR DIPPING:
  • Pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
  • Marshmallows
  • Whole strawberries or chunks of banana
  • Sliced apples, kiwi, pears, or melon
  • Dried fruit such as apricots or figs

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine chocolate, cream, butter, espresso, and liqueur. Place over low heat and stir until melted and smooth.
  2. Pour fondue into a fondue pot set over a lit candle or canned burner.
  3. Arrange foods for dipping on a platter. Serve with long forks for skewering and dipping.
  4. Alternatively, warm 4 to 6 stemmed glasses with hot tap water. Dry well. Pour fondue into glasses. Set glasses on dessert plates and arrange foods for dipping around foot of each glass. Serve with cocktail forks for skewering and dipping.
