Holiday Party Ideas

Raclette Party

Raclette is an intensely satisfying melted cheese dish from the Alps, traditionally made over live fire. Unlike a fondue, which is a dip, raclette is melted then draped over the accompaniments — like new potatoes and cornichon. No specialty raclette equipment? No Swiss fireplace? We’ve re-invented it to make it super easy by using a cast iron skillet, and it tastes just as good melted to gooey goodness in the oven or on the stovetop.

Metropolitan Market’s cheese counter is a cheese lover’s idea of heaven. Even better than the outrageous variety is the knowledge that comes behind it. Take Kim Martin, from our Admiral store, who’s been with Met Market for almost 20 years — she’s now one of the world’s 29 Certified Cheese Sensory Experts. Un‑brie‑lievable.

Thanksgiving can look however you want it to look. If you’re choosing Friendsgiving—short for stress-free, casual dinner with friends you love—make it fun. Gather flavors from around the globe, or add a potluck element. No rules. Just good food, your local besties, and whatever new tradition you want to claim as your own.

Seafood Soiree

Fruits de Mer, pronounced “froo-EE duh MARE,” is an impressive chilled seafood platter—and with seafood from the Pacific Northwest, it’s even better. Combine your favorites from our poke bar with freshly cooked prawns from our Seafood Department, crab legs, and raw oysters in the shell, then quickly steam and add a few clams or mussels. You’re done. À votre santé!

Caviar Tasting Party

What could be more luxurious than a holiday caviar tasting? To serve, place the entire open tins or jars with the lids alongside for guests to admire. Accompany with Metropolitan Market Classic CrackerThins or blinis. Add a dollop of crème fraîche and snipped chives. Partner with iced vodka or chilled Metropolitan Market French Champagne.

1. Golden Whitefish Caviar One of our most popular.  2. Paddlefish Caviar Mild in flavor and beautiful presentation.  3. Ikura Caviar Bursts of fresh salmon flavor. (More varieties available too!)
