Triple Chocolate Brownies Recipe

Triple Chocolate Brownies

Makes 16

Like the name says, these brownies are rich with three types of chocolate. We like to add nuts and a bit of espresso powder, but for chocolate purists, the recipe works just as well without the additions.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces (60%) semisweet chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • OPTIONAL:
  • 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, toasted and roughly chopped

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter an 8 x 8-inch baking dish.
  2. Place butter and chopped chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir occasionally until melted. Remove saucepan from heat. Whisk in cocoa powder. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, salt, vanilla, and espresso powder. Continue until mixture is pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add melted and cooled chocolate mixture into egg mixture. Mix until thoroughly combined. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts until incorporated.
  5. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Bake until brownies are just set, about 25 minutes. Allow to cool at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
