Sesame Pork Stir Fry

Serves 4

Pork, mushrooms and green onions with a classic sauce.


  • 1/4 cup peanut oil
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp sherry vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tbsp black bean sauce
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 pork tenderloin, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 4 Tbsp peanut oil, divided
  • 1 Tbsp raw sesame seeds
  • 8 mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 green onions, minced
  • 1 Tbsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken stock
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water, optional
  • Cooked rice, optional


  1. Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl. Stir pork into the marinade and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat a wok or large deep skillet until hot. Add 2 Tbsp peanut oil and pork; stir fry for 30 seconds. Remove the meat to a plate. Reheat the wok with an additional 1 Tbsp of the peanut oil. Add the sesame seeds, stir fry for 10 seconds; sprinkle the seeds over the pork. Add the remaining 1 Tbsp peanut oil to the hot wok. Add the mushrooms, green onions, garlic and ginger; stir fry for 2 minutes. Return the pork to the wok and stir in the chicken stock.
  3. To thicken sauce, add the cornstarch mixture and stir for a few seconds, until thickened. Remove from heat and serve warm with cooked rice, if desired.
