Peach Kuchen Recipe

Peach Kuchen

Serves 12 squares

A classic dessert: Baked peaches over a buttery crust, topped with a sour cream custard. Serve hot or cold.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 fresh peaches, halved
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and 2 tbsp sugar. Cut 1/2 cup butter into mixture. Pat the crust into the bottom of an 8-inch square pan.
  3. Arrange peach halves over the crust.
  4. Mix 3/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over the peaches. Bake for 15 minutes.
  5. Mix egg yolks with sour cream and pour over the top of the peaches. Reduce oven temperature to 375°F and bake the Kuchen until custard is set, about 30 minutes.
