Balsamic-Macerated Strawberries Recipe

Balsamic-Macerated Strawberries

Serves 4

A delicious accompaniment for your favorite dessert - or even breakfast! These berries are delicious with super creamy vanilla ice cream, Polenta Cake, Olive Oil Cake, or your favorite yogurt.

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces strawberries, hulled and cut into quarters (about 2 cups)
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon aged balsamic vinegar, plus more to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. In a non-reactive bowl, toss strawberries, sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar until well-combined.
  2. Set aside to macerate (soften) until a syrup forms at the bottom of bowl, at least 15 minutes. You may also leave to sit overnight in fridge.
  3. Before serving, sprinkle berries with freshly ground black pepper and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Toss and adjust to taste.
  4. Chef's Note:
