Caramelized Walla Walla Onion Dip Recipe

Caramelized Walla Walla Onion Dip

Serves 8

Grab your favorite potato chips and invite a few friends over for the best party dip ever. The few minutes it takes to caramelize the onions is well worth it.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 Walla Walla sweet onions, sliced (about 2 cups)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • A few dashes hot sauce

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook 15 to 20 minutes or until onions are very soft and golden brown. Cool slightly.
  2. In bowl of food processor, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and garlic. Whirl until blended. Add onion. Pulse until finely chopped. Add salt, pepper, and hot sauce, to taste. (Cover and chill if made ahead.)
  3. Serve with your favorite chips, sliced baguette, or raw vegetables.
