  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup beer
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices thick bacon, cut in half, cooked crisp
  • 4 slices beefsteak tomato
  • 4 large lettuce leaves

  1. In a medium bowl, combine beef, beer, and Worcestershire. Mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 1/2-inch thick patties. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  2. Place patties on grill over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 8 to 10 minutes or until internal temperature of burgers registers 160°F. Flip occasionally as they cook.
  3. About 2 minutes before burgers are done, place buns, cut-side down on grill until lightly toasted. During last minute of grilling, top each burger with cheese.
  4. Assemble burgers with tomato, bacon, lettuce, and buns.
