Mediterranean Lamb Burger


A delicious alternative to the traditional burger, lamb burgers enhanced with plenty of Mediterranean flavor are a great summer party hit!


  • 4 lamb patties (8 ounces each)
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup harissa (Middle Eastern hot sauce), plus more to taste
  • 1 preserved lemon peel, thinly sliced (remove flesh before slicing)
  • 1 ounce myzithra (Greek cheese similar to ricotta salata) or feta
  • 1/2 English cucumber, thinly sliced


  1. Preheat grill or heat a heavy skillet on stove over medium-high heat.
  2. Just before cooking, season both sides of lamb patties with salt and pepper. Cook 2 to 3 minutes on one side. Flip and cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes or until desired doneness.
  3. While patties are cooking, place bun halves face down on outer edges of grill. Gently toast for a couple of minutes. Watch closely as they can burn quickly.
  4. Spread about a tablespoon each of mayonnaise and harissa on the bottom halves of each bun. Place lamb burgers on top and add more harissa, if desired. Top with preserved lemon peel, cheese, and cucumbers. Enjoy right away.
