Ana's Salsa Verde Recipe

Ana's Salsa Verde

Makes about 1 1/2 cups

This tangy green salsa takes just a minute to make, and it's so much fresher and more delicious than anything you'll find in a jar.

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces tomatillos, husks removed and coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 small white onion
  • 1/2 serrano pepper, chopped, more or less, to taste
  • 1/3 cup cilantro
  • 1 clove garlic, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 medium avocado, diced

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients except avocado in blender container. Whirl until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides of container once or twice. Taste and adjust seasoning, to preference.
  2. Scrape salsa into bowl. Stir in avocado. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Keeps for a couple of days with avocado or add avocado when ready to serve.
