BBQ Hot Dog Bites

Serves 10
These savory little bites, made with humble hot dogs, are sure to be a hit at any gathering. Grilling them enhances the sweet, smoky flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (plus more for topping)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 pounds hot dogs (cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces)

Directions

  1. Heat part of grill to medium-high and leave other side unlit.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Add hot dog pieces and toss to coat.
  3. Cut a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil. With the shiny side up, lightly brush with oil or coat with non-stick cooking spray. In the center of the sheet, place hot dogs with sauce, and fold foil to form a closed pouch.
  4. Place pouch on unlit side of grill and cook for 15 minutes. Rotate pouch every 5 minutes to heat evenly.
  5. After 15 minutes, carefully open pouch and place over direct heat. Turn heat down to medium-low. Spread out hot dogs so they don't touch. For additional texture, sprinkle with a little more brown sugar. The dish is ready when hot dogs look sticky and caramelized.
