
Classic Buttermilk Batter for Waffles or Pancakes
MAKES 6 LARGE WAFFLES
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup toasted wheat germ (optional)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
Directions
- In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
- Make a well in the center. Add buttermilk and eggs. Whisk until just combined and no lumps remain. Stir in butter.
- Cook on waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions or portion onto greased griddle over medium heat for making pancakes.
